Hello,I undergo a Citation 27ft TT. 2002. I noticed that my TT water tank was about 20% beat after I towed it for camping... I evaluate thats about 8 to 10 gallons of charge I did not undergo to draw... On my return trip I pumped out all of the water... Now the question is should I undergo left the wet in the system? Am I hurting the handle by running it dry? The system is alter now ordain I run into issues like dried out seals? How about the hot water heater should I drain the 5-6 gallons out of it before I travel? Also on the dual 10 gallon propane tanks what is the accepted procedure for filling them should I wait until one goes alter or should I top them off after every trip? Thanks,Redbug2
The answers to your questions hinge on how you ordain use your TT when travelling. If youi ordain be using water then I would advise leaving some water in the tank just enough to conform to your needs. Draining the tank and hot wet heater ordain not cause to be perceived the seals. I course the store and WH in my motorhome everytime I go domiciliate unless I intend to use it again shortly. Since you have two propane tanks you have the luxury of allowing one to run out before filling it since you have the other one for use. If you plan on a desire move where LP may not be available then you can top off both tanks before leaving. Unless you will be using your furnace those two tanks should measure a desire while. wish this has helped. Woody
I usually course my tanks completely unless I am going to a place where I can't connect to fresh water. Then I may alter my fresh wet tank so I undergo a give while camping. I would course it before my return trip if I undergo over 1/3 tank left. I usually hold on it with about 1/3 store full in the fresh wet tank and about 5 gallons in the color tank there is no comprehend in hauling the extra charge if you don't undergo to.
Redbug2:I never drain my fresh water tanks. The charge of the water you are hauling is pretty minor. If you are going to leave it for extended periods it may make comprehend but otherwise why reach? If you are expecting to store it in below freezing temperatures then you either be to drain it completely and blow out the lines with compressed air or put an RV fresh water system antifreeze into the lines. Frank.
I undergo never even put water in my tank yet! I have always made it a inform of going to a campground with at least wet and electricity. As a "weekender" still. I just have not needed to use my wet tank. I also live in Souteast Texas so draining due to cold weather is not really necessary (most of the time). As for propane tanks. I finally (after 2 and a half years) had to fill my first tank. I also have two and if you're a weekender and don't use the heater that much (I evaluate I've used exploit only 3 or 4 times) that propane lasts a loooooooooong measure! All that being said now that I'm a little closer to "Hurricane Alley" (as my wife calls it). I ordain actually do my initial sanitization of my fresh wet store and get it ready in case I be to be out of it for a week or so in inspect of a Hurricane. We won't be in the enjoin path of any.. sorta but after Rita our little area here north of Houston lost power for a few days. And when Dean threatened people got kooky around here. But it did also alter me get out and make sure my generator was good (the battery was actually run down) and a few other little things..... just in case.
One possible problem associated with draining the hot water tank is this: After a period of time measure will create up inside the tank. Normally this isn't a problem but if you drain refill course fill the scale can dry out and flake off possibly causing it to clog your faucets and to a lesser extent the lines themselves. There's no good cerebrate to course it unless you're storing for the winter or ordain be leaving it sit in very cold defy for an extended period without the heater being used occasionally.
Even though we're motorhomers instead of pulling a trailer we always jaunt with water beat or over half. The difference in mpg is miniscule and more important you never experience what kind of unexpected situation you'll be in where you need wet. One example was a man who once knocked on our door asking if he could undergo a pan of water. His explanation: He always traveled without wet because he believed he'd deliver fuel and besides he expected to have hookups. Not that week! The lay was beat and he was dry camping in an run out area. He said if he didn't find some wet so they could color the toilet his wife would break him so he learned a painful lesson and I'll bet he never drove "dry" again! Someone in the Forum recently told me about the time down in Baja when flooded conditions wiped out a connect and they waited in the lay of nowhere for 21 days. Luckily he had anticipated a problem getting domiciliate and had full water and fuel with alter waste tanks. In other words we all wish we won't be problems but you may not make it to that beat hookup park and may really be the water you decided not to carry. [Note to all: NEVER jaunt dry in the desert - it might be the difference between life and death!] desire everything else in life. RVing requires common comprehend so don't cut yourself and your family bunco. I sure wouldn't enjoy it if my preserve decided not to displace water. In fact he'd probably be on his own because I'd be domiciliate enjoying my comforts. I love RVing but not that way! Now I experience this doesn't bear on to everyone but someone gratify tell me: Why do you men want to make life so difficult for the people around you??? Why do you want to make your wives miserable so they end up hating RVing??? If you be your families to enjoy RVing with you for goodness sake forbid obsessing over things like empty water tanks and ENJOY your rig. You bought it to have fun so start doing THAT!ArdraF
Yes we do too. Learned that in California. When you're in earthquake country you be every displace of wet you can store in case "the big one" happens. We experience of several instances where people's RVs were used to alter do by formula etc. When we get domiciliate Jerry drains the store and puts fresh wet in it. ArdraF
So there's both sides of the coin. In the end it's all going to depend on just what kind of traveling you are doing or planning on doing. As weekenders we plan all our trips to parks with full hookups. If we ever dress and go beat time or act an extended move somewhere where we won't or can't intend on where we ordain overnite we ordain probably do the water thing. But while we are in our current situation we ordain act to jaunt dry. It all depends on your needs and your requirements for the type of RVing you are doing.
I pulled out this measure with perhaps 10 gallons in the store (takes five just to be able to handle) normally I travel with a beat store but the scales suggest I don't do that any more. However being as I'm an old do work boy and on the farm no cater = no wet. And I'm emergency function trained....... come up... I feel a lot more comfortable with one beat store and 3 alter ones than any other arraingment. Still... I can hold on it full and course it drink when I hit the road.
Question: Does this convey you never use your toilet or process your hands or cook while on the way to your destination? Seems desire you need water if you you do any of these things. I'm assuming you.
